Beginning on Friday, August 20, 2010 residents and business owners who sustained losses in the designated counties can
begin applying for assistance through FEMA by registering online at
www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA(3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the
hearing and speech impaired. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (local time) seven days
a week until further notice.

Vehicle Tags
Vehicle tags will go on sale May 21, 2010. They must be displayed by July 1st. Passenger cars $30.00, B-plates $60.00, Motorcycles $20.00, Tow Trucks $110.00, D and F plates $90.00, H plates $160.00. Applications can be picked up at the Municipal Center on 59th Street.
Watering Restrictions
No watering, sprinkling, washing cars, etc. from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. from May 15 through September 15.
Drop Off Recycling Center
For glass, plastic and paper located on 59th Street by the Municipal Center.
Garage Sales
Permits for garage sales must be obtained through the Clerk's office on 59th Street. Permit fee is $5.00. Applications can be downloaded or picked up from the Clerk's office.
Garbage/Yard Waste Pickup
Garbage pickup up is now on Friday throughout the Village. Pickup of yard waste (grass and shrub clippings) starts April 1st. Pickup day is the same day as the garbage and must be in paper bags or containers no larger than 35 gallons. NO PLASTIC WILL BE PICKED UP! Tree branches or limbs 3 inches in diameter need to be cut into 3 ft. lengths, bundled and placed on the parkway for pickup.
Construction Material
Construction/Building material, tires or hazardous waste will not be picked up by the village. Call Allied Waste at (708) 345-7050 for disposal.
Street Lights/Village Signs
Report any street lights that are not working. Report any Village sign such as street signs that are missing.
Graffiti Removal
Free graffiti removal is available through the Cook County Sheriff's Office of Community Services, call (708) 974-6799.
Applications for Block Parties
A permit is required for all block parties. Applications are available at the Village Clerk's Office on 59th Street.
Water Bills/Parking Tickets
Water bills and parking tickets can be paid at the Municipal Center on 59th Street.
Dog Tags
Dog tags are required and are due May 1st. Cost is $2.00.

to do our streets.

that Summit has not had wholesome street resurfacing since 1959...

Warming Center
The Municipal Building at 7321 West 59th Street is open from 8:30 a.m. through 4:30
p.m. for any resident who may need shelter to get out of the bitter cold or who
may encounter heating problems.
After hour residents can call the non-emergency number at the Summit Police Department
(708) 563-4830 and arrangements will be made by a designated employee to open the
warming center.

As of January 1, 2007 persons traveling to Canada, taking a cruise, etc. will need
a U.S. Passport. Applications for a passport are available through the Village
Clerk's office. Please call (708) 563-4823 for information, questions and

This has been an eventful year for the Village of Summit. In December
2005 the village was awarded a grant from the Community Memorial Foundation, Hinsdale,
Illinois. this grant was to hire a consultant to conduct the four neighborhood
regional meetings held in April 2006 to discuss problems facing our diverse community.

Carbon Monoxide Detector Law
Effective January 1, 2007
All dwellings must have carbon monoxide detectors installed within 15 ft. of every
room used for sleeping purposes. It is the owners responsibility to ensure
detectors are installed. In the case of multiple residences that are rented
it is the landlord's responsibilty to provide detectors and the tenant's responsibilty
to maintain it. Willful failure to install a Carbon Monoxide detector is punishable
as a Class B misdemeanor.
